At this point, Hera realizes what just happened and is furious for not only passing up her chance for revenge, but saving the child’s life AND blessing him with super-strength. From here, Athene brings the baby to Alcmene as a foundling and asks her to raise him. Sheesh, why so mad at the baby Hera? It’s not his fault! But as luck would have it, Hera and Athene come upon the child and Athene convinces Hera to nurse him. Alcmene decides to abandon the child in a field rather than let Hera at him. But the goddess Hera and wife of Zeus hates the child because of this. Heracles is the son of Zeus and Alcmene, the Queen of Thebes. At first glance, the stories are wildly different- come on, Pegasus is from the story of Perseus, not Hercules! But if you look closer, the movie has managed to sneak in quite a few elements of the original, more than I first thought. Some hate it, some love it and some hate to admit that they love it. I’ve heard mixed opinions about the film Hercules.
